It all started when…
Taps Tavern is a gastro-pub-like scene located in the heart of Poultney, Vermont. The building is historic and has existed in the community for 100 years, changing hands throughout the years. In September, 2012, Serena Gallagher opened Taps Tavern with a vision to provide local food and craft cocktails. Serena was born, raised and rooted in VT. For the past seven years she has worked to create a fun, inviting, local space for all ages to enjoy. Taps Tavern has introduced not only a culinary experience but a local music scene to the Slate Valley. Taps offers music four days a week, with a Bluegrass Jam featured every Tuesday at 7pm.
Taps makes every effort to source local ingredients on the menu and create working relationships with local farms such as Quill Hill Farm located right in East Poultney, as well as farms in Castleton such as Dutchess Farm and many others. Enjoy a local grass fed burger from Lake Home Farm in Orwell; one of our most popular menu items like the Crispy Brussels Sprouts; (promise, not just a vegetable) or our classic signature Cabot Cheddar Mac & Cheese (add some bacon or buffalo chicken to spice it up).
In the past year, Taps has introduced a craft cocktail list featuring local spirits such as Barr Hill and Smuggler’s Notch. And of course a great selection of 14 local brews such as Vermont’s very own Fiddlehead. Serena and her team invite you to join us for dinner, cocktails and music—come see what we are all about! Introduce yourself and be part of the Taps family.
